I feel that, for the most part, electric bikes are a great bicycle. But like everything else it has its good features along with its not so good features. Here is a list of pros and cons of riding an ebike that I learned from my own experience.
Pros Of An Ebike
- Makes Pedaling A Little Easier
- Makes Riding Against The Wind A Little Easier
- Makes Riding Up Hills A Little Easier
- Helps You Ride A Little Bit Faster
- Great For Riding After A Long Ride On A Regular Bike
- Up To 70 Miles On A Single Battery Charge
Cons Of An Ebike
- They Are Very Heavy – Can Weight 50 Pounds Or More
- Battery Can Die On You Making It Very Hard To Ride
- Pedal Assist Stops After You Hit 20 MPH
- Pedal Assist Stops On Steep Hills
- Hard To Transport As They Are Heavy and Bulky
- They Can Be Very Expensive
- More Attractive To Thieves
Overall, I still feel like an ebike is worth it. I am very happy with my Trek Verve electronic bike. If you want to read my story about why I decided to get an electric bike you can go here.
50+ year old cat dad that loves cycling, fitness, and trying to eat right. I’ve been riding bicycles since I got my very first bike, a gift from my Grandfather, on my 8th birthday on March 28, 1979. Just because you have reached the 50 year old mark it doesn’t mean that you have to slow down or quit. I started this blog so that other 50+ (or even younger) can learn from me and be motivated in their own health endeavors.
To great health and well-being.
